a to z - A

For my A to Z Challenge theme I will be posting items that are no longer with us or are close to becoming extinct.

These are great items to use if you are trying to set a time period in your story or to stay away from if you want your story to be timeless.

A

A has two items; albums and analog flip clocks.

I'm actually staying in a condo that has an analog clock on the oven that has the numbers printed on black plastic rollers. When my husband professed that these condos were new I proved that they weren't because of the analog clock.
This clock made my husband and I reminisce about the first alarm clocks we had with the flip numbers that you could hear flip over. This clock is featured in the movie Groundhog Day.

While albums are not extinct they have only held on with a small assortment of collectors.

Thanks for visiting. Happy writing.

    1. Except on those nights when you couldn't sleep and you were reminded every minute that you were still awake by the deafening crash of the tiles as the flipped over.

  2. Hi there!
I’m stopping by during the A to Z Challenge. I enjoyed stopping by and hope you get the chance to check out my blog sometime during this month. I’m a children’s book author and I’m reviewing different books. Good luck with the challenge!

    1. Thank you. I picked up your book The Ghosts of Aquinnah. I look forward to reading it. I love anything having to do with New England. I am perennially homesick.

  5. The flipper clock. Thank goodness, I never had one. The Baby Bens with their tick tick tick drove me nuts.
