A to Z - E

For my A to Z Challenge theme I will be posting items that are no longer with us or are close to becoming extinct.

These are great items to use if you are trying to set a time period in your story or to stay away from if you want your story to be timeless.

Eight track tapes. Have you noticed a theme here?  The way we listen to recorded music has evolved so much since it's inception. Phonograph cylinders and discs, albums, cassette tapes, and the short lived eight track. These tapes were playback only and were invented in 1964 and  mostly gone by the late 1970's.

Edsel- Okay so this is a car name we all know, we all know it didn't last but that was all I knew. I was surprised to learn it was planned to be a marque brand for the Ford Motor Company and that it was only made for three years, 1958 to 60. It didn't sell and Ford lost a truck load of money on this car.  The Edsel name stuck around because it was such a colossal failure and the name itself came to stand for that.

I hope everyone had a lovely weekend.  I had a very productive Sunday and got 5,000 words written and reviewed with a quick first edit.

Happy Writing!

  1. Very interesting! Congrats on getting so much writing done this weekend!

  2. Hahaha Eight tracks. I remember those. Hope I'm not dating myself.

    1. I think that with everything I have posted. Thanks for visiting. I can't wait to read your haunted and movie posts.

  3. Good ones for E. You've got me hooked. I won't stop until I get to the end -- or beginning of your posts.
